During the creation of this wiki, we sourced a number of interactive tools and resources. They are all suitable for supporting the teaching of The Australian English Curriculum and utilise multimodal texts. Here are examples of some we have created...

The slide show presented below was created using Prezi. Prezi uses a “path” tool to let you create a moving presentation that starts at one thought and moves to the next. This example that we created focuses on CVC words taught in the Language strand of the Australian English Curriculum. It is a basic slide show that a teacher can refer to when encouraging children to brainstorm and spell words. It hyperlinks to some games and youtube clips as extra tools to support the topic. This Prezi highlights why the use of a Prezi is an effective as a teaching tool for use in your room.

Presented below is a fabulous tool called Zooburst. It allows children to write a story and use a library of clip art to illustrate their story in a 3D format. Pictures can be uploaded from their own computers and easliy inserted into the book. Children can alter size, rotation, pop ups, page colours and background. A very simple format that produces an eyecatching book. Once open please click full screen to gain the full effect of the book and to read all the text.

This VoiceThread below was simple to set up and fun to do! Hopefully it proves what a versatile tool it is for teaching English in the Early Years using multimodal texts. It is a wonderful collaborative mode, using multimedia slide show with images, documents, and videos. VoiceThread allows for navigation through slides and the ability for others to leave comments in 5 ways. These include using voice (with a microphone or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). VoiceThread conversations may be collected and shared, without installing any software. A VoiceThread may be shared with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too. While commenting, users can doodle, use multiple identities, and select comments to display through moderation. VoiceThreads may be embedded (as this one is) to show and receive comments on other websites and exported to MP3 players or DVDs to play as archival movies. (
